HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-0499 - Ordinance - 01/23/1967r b BOORUM & PEASE ORDINANCE NO, 499 AN ORDINANCE DECREASING THE RATE OF DEPOSITS TO THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM BY MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION POLICE DEPARTMENT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: I. From and after the effective date of this Ordinance, each member of the City of College Station Police Department who is a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System shall contribute to the Retirement System at the rate of three (3%) per cent of his individual earnings. Such funds shall be contributed, received, administered and disbursed under and according to the provisions of Article 6243h of Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes of Texas and other applicable Statutes and Ordinances, and all amendments thereto. II. This Ordinance shall be effective only in the event the reduction of contributions to the Retirement System from five (5%) per cent to three (3%) per cent by members of the City of College Station Police Department is approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the persons eligible to vote in an election to be held for that purpose on February 13, 1967; but upon the happening of such event, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect without further action by the City Council.
