AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION AND TO EXECUTE ALL INSTRUMENTS
NECESSARY TO EXTEND SOCIAL SECURITY COVERAGE FOR ALL
POLICEMEN OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION PURSUANT TO AGREE-
MENTS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE FOR
FEDERAL OLD -AGE AND SURVIVORS INSURANCE BENEFITS UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF APPLICABLE STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS; DIRECTING
THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO MAKE SUCH ADDITIONAL OR SUPPLE-
MENTARY ASSESSMENTS, COLLECTIONS, AND REPORTS AS MAY BE
NECESSARY TO PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR POLICEMEN; AND ORDERING
THE ALLOCATION AND SETTING ASIDE IN THE REGULAR CITY DEPOSITORY
IN THE FUND KNOWN AS THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION OLD -AGE
SURVIVORS INSURANCE FUND OF SUCH ADDITIONAL MONEY FROM
AVAILABLE FUNDS AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE SOCIAL SECURITY
COVERAGE FOR ALL POLICEMEN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS.
SECTION 1. That Honorable D. A. Anderson, Mayor, is hereby authorized,
on behalf of the City of College Station, to execute and enter into all necessary
or supplementary or amendatory agreements with the State Department of
Public Welfare for the purpose of extending to and including social security
coverage for all policemen of the City of College Station.
SECTION 2. That the Director of Finance is hereby directed to make sach
assessments, collections, payments, and reports as may be required by
the State Department of Public Welfare to provide social security coverage
for all policemen of the City of College Station.
SECTION 3. That a sufficient sum of money be allocated and set aside from
available funds for the purpose of providing social security coverage for
all policemen of the City of College Station, such money so allocated and set
aside to be known as a part of the City of College Station Old -Age Survivors
Insurance Fund, which fund shall be set aside and maintained in the regular
City depository.
SECTION 4. The fact that the benefits accruing to the City and its employees
by including social security coverage for all policemen are urgently needed
creates an emergency which for the immediate preservation of the public

peace, health and safety requires this Ordinance to become effective
immediately upon its passage, and it is so ordained.
