August 23, 1977
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. Present were
Chairman. Louis Hodges; i -:embers. Lon i'iartell, Katheleen
Kenefick. David Turello, James Luscombe: Councilman, Larry
Ringer; Park Planner, Andy Czimskey; ; ayor, Lorence
3ravenec; and -nest Pill Fitch.
1. The minutes were accepted.
2.' Holik Tract. Lou dodges says the I.olik Track is not
good for scenery or a ballfield.. ilfost of the surroundin-
area is duplexes. I'he people i.rould li4.e a nature area
and to have the pond in iiolilc Tract filled.
Lou thinks the t:allburg Tract would be better for a
ballfield.
Katheleen Kenefick says she prefers Hold-, rzc c because
it serves apartments and duplexes and is not sear a
dangerous highway.
3. Bill Fitch's Park Plans. Guest, Bill Fitch, says that
parks are good inves ments and he would like to give
the city three areas of land in Southwood yralley for
par7,land. Area §1 is 5 acres, area ;t2 is 4 acres, and
aroa Tri s 12 acres.
Mr. Pitch talked to many people in t«is area. 901;
o{' thea said they were in favor of a park but that
90;o didn't want it next to them.
Mr. Fitch thinks area 'W1 would mance a good wilderness
park; must be vehicle free; bicycles are alright but
no motorbi?:es.
Area ;'2 is in a good location for apartments. lir.
Fitch said this would give the children living in
apartments a park to play in as well as the near by
residential area.
Area #3 would n! a!:e a mood recreation par%.
4. Iayor Bravenec says he will discuss this matter with
. the council Thursday evening.
