Agenda June 8, 1976 Regular Meeting
Item No. 1 -- Due to a lack of a quorum for the May 25, 1976 meeting_
there was no.official action taken and no minutes kept.
.Tease refer to your May 25, 1976 agenda packet for minutes of the
May 11 meeting and information reagrding agenda items.
Item No. 4 -- I am enclosing a copy of the recommendations submitted
by the Brazos Tennis Association for your review. I will try to
have a system and .fee policy prepared .for your consideration at the
meeting.
Item No. 5 -- Please refer to the enclosed map. There is some
potential for the parkland to connect with the Brentwood parkland.
Also Mere is a potential of obtaining a link to the Oaks Park on
Hwy. 3U.

The Bryan -College Station Tennis association recently appointed Gary Dotson,
ern^ "a Baskin, Judy K i q,:.a _ and Sarney Welch as a committee to yr i n n some
recommendations before the City Recreation Council pertaining to construction
and utilization of the Bee Creek Park Tennis Courts. The Bryan -College
Station Tennis Association is composed of 80 members, the majority of whom
are residents and taxpayers of Coliege Station, and all are interested in
tennis. This associatiQn is in no way trying ro dictate po!icies to tt?a
City Recreation GounciI as to t'%e oierat,on of the tennis ourts but :s
making these recommendations as interested citizens and avid tennis p=ayers.
We trust the City Recreation Council will take these recommendations into
consideration,
We recommend the following:
1. That all courts should be put on a reservation basis. For example, If
hours per reservation - reservation is cancelled if players are not on time.
The suggestion has been made that a nominal fee becharged to reserve courts
and this money be put aside for further improvements of the courts,
2. Regulation tennis nets be used instead of metal nets. Past experience
has sewn that metal nets are unsatisfactory.
3. Benches, fountains, roller -type squeegees and trash cans be provided
for thr courts.
4. Signs be erecter at eaci� co::rt with at least the following:

2. No profanity or loud talk
5. Courts be reserved by groups on weekday mornings ray paying a nominai see.
6. Plans be made for tennis instruction through Community Education.
7, Three foot fences be constructed to complete court enclosure to keep
unauthorized traffic off of courts and to prevent balls from rolling off courts.
The Bryan -College Station Tennis Association is willing to contribute an annual
sum to be used for capital expenditures (windscreens, fencing and nets) beginning
in 1977. Recently, this association donated $250 to ASM Consolidated High School
to be used for painting their courts. The association wishes to commend the City
Recrea'ion Council on tee construction of hese courts and hopes that These recom-
mendations will be considered for the betterment of all tennis players concerned.
