College Station City Council Workshop Meeting
January 24, 1974

MEMBERS PRESENT- Mayor Hervey, Councilmen Homer B. Adams,
C. A. Bonnen, Fred R. Brison, Don R. Dale,
and J. D. Lindsay;
OTHERS PRESENT- City Manager North Bardell; Assistant Director
of Public Works Ford; City Planner Koehler; City
Parks and Recreation Director Wojciechowski;
Dr. Charles Pinnell, Dr. Roger Powell, Mr. Bill
Wischmeyer; City Attorney James Dozier; and
Mr. J. W. Wood.
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M.
Dr. Pinnell presented a rundown on the 701 Comprehensive Plan
progress and presented population projections through 1990.
Dr. Powell presented population distribution charts, land use
plans, and transportation system plans. Dr. Pinnell commented on
their study of administrative controls.
Mr. Wischmeyer presented the proposed plan for water and sewer
systems into 1990. Water sources and prices were also discussed.
Assistant Director of Public Works Ford and City Planner Koehler
presented proposed bicycle path routing.
Councilman Dale moved and Councilman Brison seconded that the
City Manager proceed to direct the striping of the lanes as
weather permits. A unanimous vote was obtained.
Councilman Brison moved, Councilman Bonnen seconded that the
City of College Station agree to representation by the Attorney
General's Office of Texas in the suit against manufacturers and
distributors of steel reinforcing bars. The vote was unanimous.
Councilman Dale moved, Councilman Lindsay seconded that the live-
stock application of Michael W. Divin, Lynell A. Divin and
Alphonse L. Holik Jr. be approved. The vote was unanimous.
The City Manager indicated progress on the Miller's Lane sanitary
sewer lines and the Anderson-Holleman area sanitary sewer lines.
J. W. Wood appeared to discuss the swimming pool progress and the
existing contract. A meeting between the architect, contractor,
and City Manager will be held. J'
The City Manager discussed personnel changes and the Council .con-
curred in the assignment of George Ford as Assistant Director of
Public Works and the employment of one additional detective and

two additional patrolmen in the Police Department.
The Council set the City Manager's salary at $21,000 per annum.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
