City Council Workshop Meeting
City of College Station, Texas
September 6, 1973

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor J. B. Hervey; Councilmen Fred R. Brison,
Homer B. Adams, J. D. Lindsay, Don R. Dale,
R. D. Radeleff, C. A. Bonnen; City Manager Ran
Boswell; Assistant City Manager Bardell; City
Engineer Ford; Director of Parks & Recreation
Paul Wojciechowski; and Administrative Secretary
Sadie Holligan.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
VISITORS PRESENT: Mr. J. W. Wood, Mr. Larry Priesmeyer, and Mr.
Bill Hoover.
The workshop meeting of the College Station City Council was called
to order by Mayor Hervey at 4-00 P.M., September 6, 1973 in the
Conference Room.
The first item on the agenda was the consideration of the swimming
pool bids. After considerable discussion with Mr. Wood, Mr. Priesmeyer,
the Mayor, and the council, awarding of the bid was delayed until
Mr. Boswell and Mr. Bardell could go to Austin to talk with the
Parks & Wildlife Department for possibly obtaining more money for
construction of the pool. In the meantime, Mr. Wood and his
associates would talk with subcontractors regarding a bid on the
bath house.
Next on the agenda was appointment of the Chief of Police. After
City Manager Boswell's recommendation of Lt. Marvin Byrd, the present
Acting Chief of Police, to the council, it was moved by Councilman
Dale and seconded by Councilman Bonnen that Lt. Byrd be appointed
as Chief of Police for immediate duty. The vote was unanimous.
A public hearing was opened by Mayor Hervey regarding the use of the
Fourth Entitlement Revenue Sharing Fund. There being no comments from
the audience, the hearing was closed. A motion was made by Councilman
Radeleff, that the revenue sharing funds in the estimated amount of
$90,966 be used for sanitary sewer improvements. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Dale and carried unanimously.
Regarding the Bee Creek drainage improvements of a certain area from
FM 2818 to the limits of Southwood 25, it was determined the drainage
improvements were in accordance with the overall drainage plan and
Ass't. City Manager Bardell and City Engineer Ford were asked to
secure quotations for the construction of the project.

Consideration was given to Phase II of the College Station Compre-
hensive Development Plan, 701. Upon motion of Councilman Dale and
seconded by Councilman Radeleff, the Mayor was authorized to execute
a contract with the Texas Department of Community Affairs for the
work on Phase II of the 701 Plan.
As there was no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
