McGraw Visitors Present: See Visitor's Guest Book in Vault Mayor Anderson opened the Council Meeting at 7:00 p. m. in the Council Room of the City Hall in College Station. Mayor. Anderson stated that Councilman McGraw had to be out of town and would like to have an excused absence from this particular council meeting. The Council con- curred in granting an excused absence for Councilman McGraw. Mayor Anderson briefly explained the proposed 1970-71 Fiscal Year Budget for the City. He stated that this year's budget was one of the tightest ones that the city had had. He briefly itemized some of the budget items for the benefit of citizens present. The total amount of the proposed budget is $1, 591, 900. 00. A Brazos County Counseling Service representative, Rev. Pry, asked whether the Counseling Service had been granted their proposed request, which was $10, 000. Mayor Anderson explained that the Council had discussed this item at length and with so many other expenses the city was faced with in this fiscal year, they did not feel they could increase the amount to the Counseling Service. The Counseling Service will still receive $8, 500 per year from the City of College Station. Mayor Anderson further explained, however, as did Councilman Ransdell, that this was no reflection on the Counseling Service's fine record of service to the community. On motion by Councilman Davis, seconded by Councilman Ryan, Ordinance No. 688, an ordinance levying taxes for the use and support of the municipal government of the City of College Station and providing for the interest and sinking fund for the year 1970-71 and apportioning each levy for the specific purpose, was approved. Motion was carried. On motion by Councilman Ryan, seconded by Councilman Ransdell, Ordinance No. 689, an ordinance adopting a budget for the year 1970-71 fiscal year and authorizing expenditures as therein provided was approved. Motion carried. There being no further business, Councilman Cooley moved for adjournment of the meeting, subject to call. Motion was seconded by Councilman Davis. Motion carried. 4ATTEST: irSecre a r,y APPROVED: o01333 1 Mayor 7-21
