MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 25, 1961
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Sorrels, Boyett, Landiss,
Rosprim, Anderson; City Attorney Dillon; City Manager Boswell;
City Engineer Benson; City Secretary Manning

Minutes of the July 28th meeting were read and approved*
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the city
manager was instructed to complete negotiations with J. C. Culpepper for the
purchasing by the city of four lots on Highway 6 for the sum of $8,000; the city
attorney was requested to review the deeds to see that they are in order.
The city attorney was instructed to contact Mr, W. C, Hall relative to the
purchasing of a lot lying adjacent to the four lots referred to above.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the bid of the
Cade Motor Company in the amount of $1,195 on a car used by the police department
was accepted.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Boyett, Ordinance No. 325,
an ordinance rezoning certain property within the city, was passed and approved.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance
No, 323, an ordinance relocating a drainage easement between lots 30 and 31,
Leacrest Addition was passed and approved,
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Orr, Ordinance No.
324, an ordinance annexing certain areas to the city limits, was passed to first
reading and a public hearing thereon set for 7:00 P.M., October 23, 1961.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Boyett, City Attorney
Dillon was granted permission to attend a conference on the National Institute
of Municipal Law Officers in New York, September 24-28, Mr, Dillon to be
reimbursed for expenses incurred therewith.

Mr. W. D. Fitch appeared before the council to discuss the construction of
the extension of Glade Street.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the city attorney
was instructed to prepare the necessary papers therewith as follows:
1. Beginning at the east corner of Lot 15, Leacrest Addition, and extending
generally south a distance of approximately 440 feet, this to constitute a street
section to be paid for by the property owners along the west side of Glade Street
at the rate of $3.00 per foot and by the developer at one half of the cost of
construction;;;
2. Beginning at the south end of the section described in 1 and extending
generally south a distance of approximately 1081 feet, this portion to constitute
a second street section to be paid for by the developers on a fifty-fifty basis;
3. Beginning at the south end of the section described in 2 and extending
to and including an extension of Orr Street, all ppproximating 485 feet, this to
constitute a third street section to be paid for by the property owners along the
west side of Glade Street and along both sides of Orr Street at the rate of $3.00
per foot and by the developer at one half of the cost of construction.
The council instructed the city manager to invite a representative of the Woodson
Lumber Company to be present at the next meeting when action will be taken on
this proposal.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city manager
was instructed to ask for bids on a new car for official use and when -satisfactory
bids are received to accept that of the lowest bidder.
The meeting was adjourned subject to call,.
