April 24, 1961
Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Rosprim, Boyett, Orr, Landiss,
Sorrels, Anderson; City Manager Boswell; City Attorney
Dillon; City Secretary Manning
Visitors present: Bill Price, Bill Landiss, Mr. C. E. Sanstedt, Dr. F. B.
Clark, Judge W. S. Barron, Mr. Collier of the Bryan Eagle
Minutes of last two regular and two special meetings were approved.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance
No. 312, an ordinance providing for changes of water rates, was passed and
approved and ordered published.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss, City
Manager Boswell was authorized to purchase a backhoe for the amount of
$1,600.00, using money out of the Equipment Replacement Fund.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson, a
request from George McCulloch for a change in zoning of Lots 4, 5 and 6,
Block 9, West Park Addition, was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
A letter from Samuel T. Lanford concerning street lighting was read by
Mayor Langford. The council expressed appreciation of Mr. Lanford's interest.
The mayor stated that he sees Mr. Lanford frequently and agreed to discuss
with him the policy regarding installation of street lights and Mr. Lanford's
proposal at the first opportunity.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Mayor
Langford was authorized to write Mr. John Robinson of the Greyhound Bus Lines
concerning unsatisfactory conditions of bus service in College Station.
Dr. F..B. Clark and his attorney, Judge W. S. Barron, came before the
council to discuss Dr. Clark's request that the city reimburse him for certain
services installed in the South Knoll Addition. No formal action was taken,
but the city agreed to make available to Judge Barron copies of any ordinances
or agreements which he might request. City Attorney Dillon will represent
the city in any negotiations and will be available for conferences with Judge
Barron.
The council adjourned subject to call.
