MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
August 22, 1960
Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Anderson, Boyett, Sorrels,
Smith, Landiss; City Manager Boswell; City Attorney
Dillon; and City Secretary McGinnis
The request of Councilman Orr to be excused from this meeting
was granted.
On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Anderson,
the quotation of the Cade Motor Company for a 1960 Fairlane Ford
was accepted.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Landiss,
Ordinance No. 302, an ordinance incorporating certain territory within
the limits of the city of College Station, was passed and the city
attorney directed to prepare notice of a public hearing thereon.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson,
the recommendation of the City Planning and Zoning Commission relative
to the rezoning of property owned by Mr. G. G. McDonald on Highway
No. 6 was approved and the city attorney directed to prepare an
ordinance to be numbered No. 303 for notice of public hearing thereon.
The letter dated July 27, 1960, from Mr. G. C. Hawley of the
State Board of Insurance was read and discussed at length.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman
Anderson, a committee was appointed to review the various suggestions
in the letter, particularly as such suggestions may ultimately
affect insurance rates. The committee as appointed consisted of
Mr. R. M. Stevenson as chairman, Messrs. Virgil Phipps, K. A.
Manning, Ran Boswell, and a fifth member to be recommended by Mr.
H. D. Bearden of the Engineering Extension Service.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded. by Councilman
Sorrels, Ordinance No. 304, an arson reward ordinance, was passed
and approved and ordered published.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman
Sorrels, the application of Mr. E. M. Lynch to keep poultry with-
in the city limits was approved.

On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Landiss,
the request of Mr. Antone Rosprim to keep poultry within the city
limits was approved.
The request of Col. Robert L. Melcher to keep livestock
within the city limits was deferred to give the city manager time
to check deed restrictions for the area concerned.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Smith,
the request of Mr. R. L. Redden to keep livestock within the city
limits was denied. Mr. Redden is to be instructed to clean property
concerned by September 1, or remove livestock from city limits.
Once this is done a new application may be filed with the under-
standing that all manure must be removed from the city limits at
such intervals as may be recommended by the health officer.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman
Landiss, the question of granting a quit claim deed for five feet of
a ten foot utility easement along Lot 2, Block 2, Woodson Village
Addition, was postponed until the next regular meeting.
The council adjourned subject to call.
