RESOLUTION NO. 11-9-95-R-3
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION RECOGNIZING
THE NEED FOR IMPROVED NORTH-SOUTH TRAFFIC ROUTES AND DECLARING THAT
THE WELLBORN ROAD CORRIDOR TRAFFIC STUDY IS A HIGH PRIORITY FOR THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION.
WHEREAS,
the number one Council Ends Statement, Transportation/Mobility, states
that citizens benefit from the ability to move into, out of, and within the
City of College Station in a safe and efficient manner
WHEREAS,
the Wellborn Corridor is a major north-south traffic corridor in Bryan-
College Station and the lack of adequate north-south routes has been
identified as a major cause of traffic difficulties in the community.
WHEREAS,
the College Station City Council identified Improvements in North-South
Traffic Routes and the Wellborn Road Corridor Traffic Study as priority
Strategic Issues for 1995.
WHEREAS,
the Wellborn Road Corridor Traffic Study being conducted by the Texas
Department of Transportation seeks to provide a recommendation for
improvements in traffic safety and efficiency in the Wellborn Corridor that
can be supported b the entire community.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the City Council of College Station, Texas that;
PASSED AND
The Wellborn Road Corridor Traffic Study and subsequent projects to
improve traffic safety and efficiency in this corridor are a high priority to
the City of College Station.
The City supports alternatives 3,4 and 6 which were presented at previous
public meetings, and urges that further study be concentrated on these
options.
The City urges that every effort be made to complete the study in a timely
manner, to involve the City and its citizens in the study's efforts, and to
afford the City ample opportunity for review and input prior to the study's
completion.
