Members present: Mayor E. Langford; Councilmen E. E. Brown, Crawford,
Wilcox; and City Manager L. D. Smiths
As a matter of policy relative to the location of side walks the following
regulations were adopted: on streets of 40 feet or more in width, the
inside of the side walk shall coincide with property line; on streets
30 feet in width, the outside of the side walk shall coincide with the
property line; in no case shall the clear distance between curbs be less
than 30 feet..
The Council accepted the recommendation of the Zoning Commissl.on of
August 15, 1945 that Block 5, Lots 11-18, inclusive, and Block 6 & 7,
Lots 14-27, inclusive, Boyett Addition be zoned to District No. 4, First
Business District, and authorized the Mayor to proceed with public
notification as required by the Zoning Ordinance.
The recommendation of the Zoning Commission of the same date relative to
certain property within the Tauber holdings was postponed pending a
conference with Mr. W. F. Tauber and other interested parties.
AskThe recommendation of the Zoning Commission of August 20, 1945 relative
to a request of Mr. Walter Johnson was postponed for further consideration.
The recommendation of the Zoning Commission of August 20, 1945 relative
to waiving of restrictions in heighth of the proposed Methodist Church
was approved.
The Council approved the reoommer�dation of the City Manager that all
customers receiving water from the City of College Station be placed on
meters September 1, 1945 or as soon thereafter as meters can be bought and
installed; and in the event that more than one family uses water from one
meter there shall be a minimum charge to each family of $1.00 per month,
provided, however, that this mid mum. shall not supercede the regular
rates which will be indicated by meter readings; and provided further
that if an outsider is permitted to use water by a regular customer and
such use is not, reported to the City Office for collection services shall
be discontinued.
The City Manager was requested to ask for a conference with the Business
Manager of A. & M. College for discussion of certain questions relative
to insurance for local firemen.
The question of using "Romex" in connection with electrical installations
was raised by the City Manager. The Council took the position that this
or any other similar materials would be approved within the City Limits
so long as such materials conform with the specifications of the National
Electric Code.
