October 11, 1945
Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Wilcox, R. L. Brown,
Crawford; and City Manager Lloyd D. Smith.
Visitors presents. Rev. & Mrs. R. L. Jackson, Rev. Willis, Will Walker,
Mrs. W. M. Smith, J. B. Lauterstein, and Dr. & Mrs. F. B. Clark.
The City Manager was instructed to allow the full ten per cent discount
on utility bills beginning November 1, 1945.
A public hearing ways had on the recommendation that Block 5, Lots 11-18
inclusive, and Block 6 & 7, Lots 14-27, inclusive, Boyett Addition, be
zoned to District to. 4, First Business District. A full attendance of
the Council not being present, final action was postponed until the
November meeting. The only objection raised to the proposal was voiced
by J. B. Lauterstein.
Dr. F. B. Clark presented to the Council certain proposals for financing
the installation of all utilities in the Southeast College Park Addition.
No final action was taken pending a full hearing by the Council.
The question of changing utility rates to conform with those of the City
of Bryan was postponed until the November meeting of the Council.
The following resolution was adopted and the Mayor was authorized to file
a copy of it with the City of Bryan.
RESOLUTION
1. It being the belief of the City Council of College Station
that all interests concerned would be most advantageously
benefited if the City of College Station owned the electric _
lines in College Hills Estates, the Mayor and City Manager
are hereby authorized to begin negotiations with the City
of Bryan looking towards the purchase of such lines. They
are further authorized to state to the City Commission of
Bryan that the City of College Station desired to purchase
said lines at the earliest possible date.
%. The Mayor and City Manager are also authorized to request
that the City of Bryan shall have said lines appraised by
an impartial engineer in order that a proper value may be
placed thereupon. (The City Council of College Station is
perfectly willing for the appraisal to be made by the City
Managers of the two cities.)
-f. The Mayor and City Manager are further authorized to begin
negotiations with the City of Bryan in the matter of pur-
chasing power for. :said area from said City should such

S. The City of College Station will be prepared for a Dash
transaotion in the event that the appraisal of the lines
shall be approved by the City Council.
