Present: Ernest Langford, Mayor, Councilmen Orr, Burns, and Wilcox,
J.T.L. McNew, City Engineer, S. R. Wright, City Sanitary Engineer, and
W.M. Simpson, Auditor, and L. D. Smith, Business Manager.
Mr. Simpson, upon request of L. D. Smith, made a statement of the
cindition of the city books.
The Council instructed L. D. Smith, with the advice and supervision of
J.T.L. McNew, to secure an appraisal of the property accounts as of
January 1, 1943. This appraisal is to be entered on the books as a
starting point, disregarding all past records, and shall indicate
approximately the dates of installations, estimated life, sound value,
and are to be broken darn as Mr. Simpson thinks best.
Motion -was made by Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Orr, that the city
sponsor a Farmer 's market in College Hills Lstates, in the location which

J. H. Stockton formerly occupied. A charge of 10f/ per day for a stall is
to be made. This market is to be sponsored for one season. Motion carried.
Mr. McNew suggested that the opening day be on Tuesday, March. 2nd; a prize
of $ 10.00 to be offered for the best display, including variety, method of
showing; all material to be home grown.
Mr. Wilcox made a report, as requested by the Mayor, to check a possibility
of securing a space in the Burgess building as a location for the City
Office. Motion was made by Mr. Orr, seconded by Mr. Burns, to move the
City 0='fice to the Burgess buildings atctha.expiration of the present
agreement with Mr. Munnerlyn. Motion carried.
The Council passed Ordinance no. 71, calling for a City election to
beheld on April 6, 1943.
