HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/30/1942 - Special Minutes - City Council Called Meeting of the City Council, November 30, 1942, at 2:30 pm in the Office of the Mayor. Members present: Councilmen Burns, Wilcox, Smith, Lloyd and Orr. The Mayor reported that the College had 0 anted a year's leave of absence to Mr. Lloyd D. Smith, and that the purpose of the meeting was to consider further the question of employing Mr. Smith as Business Manager. On motion of Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Burns, the Council voted to employ Mr. Smith as Business Manager, and to relieve Mr. J. G. Brown of his duties at the close of business November 30, 1942. On motion of Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, the Council voted to pay Mr. Brown his regular salary through the month of December. The Council agreed that an adjustment should be made in the salary of Mrs. Lucy L. Sneed as Mrs. Sneed assumed additional responsibilities, and that any ad- justment should be effective as of December 1, 1942. The Council accepted the resignation from its member- ship of Mr. Lloyd D. Smith in order that he might be free to accept the position of Business Manager. Councilman Lloyd presented his resignation as a member of the Council to the Mayor, explaining that he had been advised that he was holding office contrary to Federal Regulations. ZepiC :4.
