AN OI~DINM~CB AMENDING CHAPTBR 6, ~ PROTECTION, OF THE CODE
OF OI~DINANCES OF ~ CI'I'Y OF COLLEGE STATION, BY AMENDING SEC-
TION I.B(4) RELATING TO AUTOMATIC SPRINI~ER SYSTEMS.
~, the College Station Fire Depa~httent has determined that it is valu-
able for all structut'es protected by automatic sprkdder systems to be monitored
by a licensed alarm company;,
NOW, 'IW'~, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION THAT:
Chapter 6, Section 1.B(4) of the Code d Ordinances of the City of College
Station, Texas, is hereby mended by amending Sub~ections (b) and (c) to read
"(b) Under 603.15--Automatic Sprinkler Systems, paragraph 603.18.5 shall be
changed to read as follows:
603.16.5 In ali structures protected by an automatic sprinkler system,
eihher as a requkement or as an option, an electronic water flow alarm
shall be provided as a means of super~alng the system. All systems
shall be constantly monitored by a licensed alarm company; any
changes wh/ch must be made to update the system shall be at the
owner's expense. All alarm systems shall be tested and approved by the
Fire Off/elal to insure proper opereficm before the system will be consid-
ered complete. Verification o! alarm connection to an alanu company
shall be submitted in writing, by a representative of the alarm company,
to the Fire Off/cml. Alarm companies under this section will meet cun-ent
NFPA 71 stenderds.
Also under 603.1S--Automatic Sprinkler Sysmms, a new paragraph num-
bered 605.15.8 shall be included, to read as follows:
603.15.8 Sprinkler systems and flow alarms that are required to be
monitored by a licensed company shall at no time be shut off. This in-
eludes a business going out of business. The owner of said structure
shall be responsible to assure that the water is not shut off to the
swinlder system and the phone company does not shut off the water flow
This ordinance shall becorae effective and be in full force and effect from and
al~er its passage and approval by the City Council and duly attested by the
Mayor and City Secretary.
