AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, SECTION 10, OF THE CODE OF ORDI-
NANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION PERTAINING TO THE TEXAS
MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY ADDING A SUBSECTION G AUTHORIZING
AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL
RETIREMENT SYSTEM, RESTRICTED PRIOR SERVICE CREDIT TO EMPLOYEES
WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED
FOR ANY INCORPORATED CITY IN THE UNITED STATES OR ANY COUNCIL OF
GOVERNMENTS IN TEXAS FOR WHICH SUCH EMPLOYEES HAVE NOT RECEIVED
CREDITED SERVICE IN THIS SYSTEM, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
FOR THE ORDINANCE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION THAT
Chapter 8, Section 10, of the Code of Ordinances of the C~ty of College Station, Texas,
~s hereby amended by add~ng a Subsecbon G, which shall read as follows
"G. AUTHORIZATION OF RESTRICTED PRIOR SERVICE CREDIT
On the terms and condlt,ons set out in Sections 853 305 of Subtitle G of
Title 8, V.T.C A, Government Code, as amended (hereinafter referred to
as the "TMRS Act"), each member of the Texas Mumclpal Retirement
System (hereinafter referred to as the "System") who is now or who
hereafter becomes an employee of this City shall receive restricted prior
service credit for service previously performed as an employee of any
~ncorporated c~ty or town in the Umted States or of any Councd of
Governments ~n th~s State for which the person has not otherwise
received credit service ~n th~s System, including combined service credit
under Chapter 803 The service credit hereby granted may be used only
to satisfy length of service requirements for rebrement eligibility, has no
monetary value ~n computing the annuity payments allowable to the
member, and may not be used in other computation, ~ncluding computa-
tion of Updated Serwce Credits
A member seeking to establish restricted prior serwce credit under th~s
ordinance must take the acbon required under said Section 853 305 whde
still an employee of th~s City"

SubJect to approval by the Board of Trustees of the System, th~s ordinance shall be and
become effective on the 1st day of June, 1995
