A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO ESTABLISH
JUVENILE UNIT
WHEREAS, the dynamic growth of the City of College Station in recent
years has not been without attendant problems with ~iuvenile delinquency and
crime and;
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, has
indicated a willingness to assist units of local government in coping with
the juvenile problems and;
WHEREAS, a need exists in the Police Department for a specially train-
ed juvenile unit to work with predelinquent juveniles with the view of di-
verting them from the juvenile justice system to community-based resource
agencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, at its meeting on the 14th day of October
1976 that- '
1. The Mayor be authorized on behalf of the City Council to make ap-
plication to the Criminal Justice'Division, Office of the Governor,
for a grant of fourteen thousand, two hundred and twenty five dol-
lars ($14,225) to support the augmentation of the Police Depart-
ment wi th a juvenile unit.
2. The Mayor be authorized on behalf of the City Council to accept
such grant award should it be tendered.
3. This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption and its recording
in the Minutes of the City Council is ordered.
