Mayor Berry called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m. Regular Agenda Item No. 2 Presentation. possible action. and discussion of minutes the for Audit Committee meeting held December 16.2010. Council Member Fields moved to approve December 16, 2010 Audit Committee Minutes. Mayor Berry seconded the motion, which carried 2-0. FOR: Mayor Berry, Council member Fields AGAINST: None Regular Agenda Item No. 3 Presentation, possible action. and discussion regarding the results of the performance audit of the Parks and Recreation partment's auuatics program. Pe Ty Elliot, Internal Auditor presented overview of the Parks and Recreation Aquatics Audit report and his findings. Four (4) main Recommendations: . • Aquatics personnel costs should be significantly reduced by determining appropriate staffing levels to move from a year-round staffing model to a seasonal model, and by discontinuing the staffing of CSISD Natatorium. Audit Committee Minutes Thursday, February 17, 2011 Page 2 • Aquatics mission goals and objectives should be better defined by the Department Director in conjunction with the City Manager, and carried out by the Pool Supervisor by eliminating expenditures or programs not in line with the newly defined direction. • Staffing levels of part-time, seasonal staff should be better managed to prevent the payment of overtime to these employees. • Aquatics should explore and consider diverse training opportunities for part-time, seasonal staff along with the Pool Supervisor, in order to earn the maximum benefit available while also reducing training expenditures. Council member Fields recommended to Council the approval of the Aquatics Audit report. Mayor Berry seconded the motion, which carried 2-0. Regular Azenda Item No. S Adiourn. Hearing no objections, Mayor Berry adjourned the meetings at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2011. Council member Fields made a motion to adjourn.
