received her BS in Health/
Physical Education from

pleted her education with s

University. -
She started with the city as - 't
a part time Water Safety
Instructor, Life Guard and =1. I /Z++ Pool Manager in 1976. In 1980 she became a perma -
nent /full time Pool Man-
ager until 1987 when she was promoted to the Instruction Supervisor
position.
During her 20 years of service with the City of College Station, Cindy
became the State Swimming Commissioner for the Texas Amateur
Athletic Federation and a Customer Service Trainer for the City of College
Station. She was a speaker in many national conventions.
Cindy received many awards such as:
-1986, TAAF President's Award
-1989, B /CS Chamber of Commerce Public Employee Award for College
Station
-1990 & 1993, TAAF President's Awards
- 1992/1993, Brazos County Chapter Safety Service Award and finally the
-1995 Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Kroger Stokes Award. This is
the highest award given to an individual by TAAF.
Cindy was the mother of three wonderful children,, ictoria 14, Michael
10 and Catherine 7. She was very proud of them.

TREE RECYCLING
Christmas trees will be turned into mulch on
January 6 - 7, at College Station Central Park.
All you have to do is to bring your Christmas

CELEBRATION
Emancipation Proclamation was issued by
Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. But the
news did not reach Texas cotton fields until
June 19, 1865. By 1867, Juneteenth
Celebrations were held in towns and cities
throughout Texas.
Join the City of College Station in celebrating
this event on Saturday, January 15, 7 pm at
Lincoln Center.

TEXAS SUPER GUARD
The City of College Station has been hosting
this event since 1983, inviting life guards from
all over the state to participate in this
challenging and rewarding contest.
FASHION SHOW
Annual Teen Center Fashion Show is held on
July 26 at College Station Conference Center,
displaying the latest line of clothing.

Once again the City of Waco will be hosting the
Games of Texas, July 28 - 30. College Station/
Bryan were the host cities for Texas Games in
1988 & 1994.

your old phone books by the curb with the rest
of your recyclable items (aluminum cans,
newspapers and glass) on the collection day.
The last chance will be November 15, the
"TEXAS RECYCLES DAY ". Simply drop off your
phone book at the designated parking lot. Past
two years it has been held at the Target's
parking lot and over 30,000 tons have been
collected annually. Just think of all the energy
that we can save.

The Center is available for rental to any individual or group, with accommodations from 10 -400 in various rooms, day or evening. Tables, chairs, podiums,
movie screens, flip charts, audio visual equipment, piano, kitchen, ice machine, refrigerators, microwaves, conventional oven, coffee pots, patios, and
a 1,420 square foot deck are available.
Rates and fees depend on the type of group utilizing the facility. Reservations should be made one to three months in advance. A deposit is required
upon reservation.

WHAT IS IT? An after school recreational facility for College Station students in grades 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.
WHERE? Located adjacent to the Conference Center.
WHO? Under the direction of City of College Station Parks & Recreation Department's Conference Center Supervisor, along with staff attendants and
an advisory committee of teenagers.
HOW TO JOIN: Registration forms available at the Teen Center of Conference Center.
HOW MUCH: September -May $15.00. Non - members $2.00 atthe door each Saturday night. No charge for 5th -8th graders after school, but registration
form required. 5th graders, not allowed in the Saturdav night events. PARK BUCKS can be Used for membership fees.
TEEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Consists of strong leaders and role models. The whole operation depends on the enthusiasm and follow- through of the
Teen Advisory Committee. Teens learn the value of sharing responsibilities and their municipal government and its processes.
PROSPECTIVE OUTCOME: Shenanigan's Teen Center provides a place for teens to gather, under adult supervision, to interact with peers and share
experiences, as well as responsibilities, while maintaining the full support and trust of the community and the College Station City Council.

• Park curfew for neighborhood parks is 11:00 pm - 5:00 am.
• Park curfew for community parks is 1:00 am - 5:00 am.
• Dogs must be on leashes at all times.
• All wildlife in City parks is protected.
• It is unlawful to litter in City parks.
• It is unlawful to cut or destroy vegetation.
• All vehicles must park in designated areas.
• It is unlawful to swim in park ponds.
