WORKSHOPS: Workshops are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month. These workshops are pro-
vided free to increase public awareness on such information as car maintenance, will and tax preparation,
nutrition, and other related matters.
MEN'S BASKETBALL & CO -REC VOLLEYBALL: Lincoln Center offers Community Fall and Spring Leagues.
GYM RESERVATIONS: The gym can be reserved for team play. You must call by4:00 pm the day before you want
to reserve the gym. Reservations can be made no more than a week in advance.
MEETING ROOM RENTAL: There is a $20.00 fee and $50.00 deposit for use of the meeting room facility.
SENIOR CITIZENS: The seniors citizens program at Lincoln Center provides a nutrition program with meals for all
persons 60 years of age and older. Also, daily programs such as arts and crafts, dominoes, bingo and many
more activities are offered.

The recreation programs at Lincoln Center are designed to provide a wide variety of quality leisure
activities for all age groups. The instructional programs operate on a seasonal basis:
Fall: September - December
Winter /Spring: January - May
Summer: June - August
FACILITY USE MEMBERSHIP CARD: Annual youth membership is $4.00 and adult membership is $6.00. This card is
needed to use all equipment.
REFERRALS: Referrals are made to W.I.C., Planned Parenthood, Food Stamps, Job Training Partnerships Act,
Section Al Housing.
COMMODITIES: Cheese and butter distribution everymonth to qualified families. For more information call the
Center.
TOY LIBRARY: Available to children ages birth through 6 years old, on Tuesday & Wednesday, everyother week.
Family membership costs $5.00 per year, or $2.50 per semester. Toys may be checked out (one per child) for
two weeks at a check -out fee of 25C.
*Lincoln Center Advisory Board Committee meets on first Monday of every month 6:00 pm at Lincoln Center.

Open since 1982, the College Station Community Center is the ideal place to have that special event, easily
accessible to TAMU and hotels.
The Center is available for rental to any individual or group, with accommodations from 10 -400 in various
rooms, day or evening.
Tables, chairs, podiums, movie screens, audio visual equipment, piano, kitchen, ice machine, refrigerators,
microwave, coffee pots, patios, and an 800 square foot deck are available.
Rates and fees depend on the type of group utilizing the facility. Reservations should be made one to three
months in advance. A deposit is required upon reservation.

TAMU golf course. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

"Everybody's Talkin' About Shenanigans"
WHAT IS IT? A hang -out for College Station students in grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.
WHERE? Located adjacent to the Community Center.
WHO? Run by the City of College Station Parks and Recreation Department's Community Center staff, along
with adult attendants and an advisory committee of teenagers.
HOURS - September through May:
Monday - Friday after school
3:00 -5:30 pm, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades
Friday nights
7:00 -10:00 pm, 6th grade only
Saturday nights
7:00 -10:00 pm, 7th & 8th grades
HOW TO JOIN: Applications for membership available at the Teen Center or Community Center. Capacity
crowd is 150 each night, first come first serve.
HOW MUCH: September -May $15.00 (prorated based on month joined). $2.00 for non - members at the door
each Friday and Saturday nights. No charge for 5th -8th after school. No charge for membership for 5th grade,
but allowed in after school only.
TEEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Consists of strong leaders and role models. The whole operation depends on the
enthusiasm and follow- through of the teen advisory committee. Teens learn the value of sharing respon-
sibilities and working toward a common goal with each other and adults. They gain insight about civic
responsibilities and their municipal government and its processes. Interviews and selections are held period-
ically throughout the year.
PROSPECTIVE OUTCOME: Shenanigan's Teen Center provides a place for teens to gather, under adult supervi-
sion, to interact with peers and share experiences, as well as responsibilities, while maintaining the full sup-
port and trust of the community and the College Station City Council.

David Long and Sonny Casares were recognized by City Manager Ron Ragland for their
positive attitude toward the public. Rhoda Savage (Parks Maintenance Superintendent), was
presented with a jacket by City Manager Ron Ragland for the coordination of the Pepsi
Games of Texas spectacular opening ceremonies in August 1988. Charlie Szabuniewicz
(Special Facilities), and Afsaneh Yazdani (Parks Planner) were also recipients of the City
Managers Choice Award for their efforts and ways to promote the city. Charlie was the "idea -
man" behind the Bohemian Festival, Texas Super Triathlon, Superguard, Swimathon and
Urban Fishout.

the National Recrea-
tion and Parks Asso-
Vera Solis ciation at the annual
conference in 1988. The award recognizes cities
for "outstanding aquatic management, plan-
ning, and programming."
The Aquatics Division was also the recipient of
the 1988 National Pool and Water Park Safety
Award "for an absolutely incredible water
safety operation."
Pool Supervisor, Vera Vowell Solis, received the
"Award of Merit" for her professionalism and
significant contribution to water safety.
