December 02, 2024, Minutes Staff Present: Andrea Lauer, Business Services Manager; Kimberly McNally,
Historical Records Archivist; Luis Perez, Recreation Supervisor
Board Present: Carla Elliott, Comer Patterson, Sherry Frisk, Gerald Burgner, Lisa
Mouton, Tre Watson Council Members Present:
1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m., Tom Turbiville asked for an excused absence, upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Tre
Watson, the motion to accept his request was unanimous. Lou Hodges was
an unexcused absence.
2. Hear visitors. None
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting
Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and seconded by Sherry Frisk
the minutes were approved as written.
3.2 A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk had a Historical Commission meeting on November 14, she
learned that not all cemeteries are tax exempt.
B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report
No marker applications were submitted. Kimmie reached out to WTAW and
is awaiting a response.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
Carla Elliott put a lot of effort into making a flash drive of previous
speakers so we can keep track. 2025 dates are almost full, she just needs
to book August & December.
D. College Station Pictorial Book Updates
The book is finalized, working on copyright with legal and getting samples,
it is on track to be released in February.
E. American Mile
Tom Turbiville is working on possible additions to the blank bricks and
welcomes suggestions. Staff is currently working on getting prices to have

the bricks engraved, staff recommends engraving the bricks in phases, possibly starting with 100 bricks.
F. Lone Star Legacy Park designation The application has been submitted to TRAPS for review, we should know
early February if Brison will be awarded the designation. The awards
banquet will be at the TRAPS Conference at the end of February.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.
Christmas in the Park and the Christmas Parade this weekend
3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs
None
4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items.
Upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Comer Patterson the
Board agreed to cancel the January HPC meeting and resume in February.
Motion carried unanimously.
5. Presentation of historical items
None
6. Adjourn. Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and a second by Lisa Mouton, the
HPC voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting @ 4:45 p.m.
