Page 11 Depa mental: Build -A -House Competition The P &DS Employee Recognition Banq et not only recognized our outstanding employees but our creative minds, as well. Department members were asked to assemble their "house plan invitations" into model structures. The only catch was that there were no catches. For once, ' ere were no rules, no guidelines, no building codes, no permits, no hits, no runs, no errors. Participants were respectfull asked NOT to run with the scissors. Entries varied as much in creativity as they did in ingenuity. A lifeguard station at 'he beach featured Barbie and a wave runner. There were two deer blinds, a Casa de Cliche adobe hacienda, a two -story ew England frame house complete with clothes line and a cutaway revealing the earth's layers, a "glass" greenhouse, a •0's psychedelic bungalow, a two -story doghouse, a Princess bungalow, scrapbook house, and many others. All included in this spacious one room, single - family structure 1st Place! Estate updates include: Central heat, as evidenced, by the pot bellied stove being located in the center of the home. ., New outhouse location, as evidenced, by the old path leading to the bare spot in the back ' • yard and no beaten path leading to the new outhouse location. Note: According to TCEQ moving the outhouse farther from the water well should (over time) take care of the pungent odor and slight sheen associated with the well water. , New privacy fence, this fence is guaranteed to keep the cows and other ranch animals from t -: :,;" looking through the cracks in the wall, during those private times, and will ensure you are not dis- #_ turbed by them while using the outhouse. Fixer -upper suggestion: i' Two rock - in - chairs have been place in the front yard to depict how nice it would be to have a porch added to this structure. Little House on Greens Prairie Note: Before starting the porch addition, be sure to check local building codes and permit require- ments. This estate comes with acreage and is Zoned A o.
