Tibetans Legislature established Texas A&M. Later that year, Harvey
Mitchell offered 2,416 acres in Brazos County forth e college four miles
south of Bryan to avoid "shootings, stabbings, lynchings, and gambling,"
which were all too common. According to an 1070s report in the Brenham
Banner, "tramps" were common in Bryan. The new town was rough, and
citizens wanted to insulate the students from Bryan s "evil influences"
