It moved to 335 University, what is now Loupot's, in 1936 The pharmacy had a soda fountain and a jukebox and sold gifts. The upstairs was a pool hall, which became an adult video store in the sixties. Lipscomb's was the place to meet friends on Northgate. " Mr. Lipscomb least the building to Mr. Loupot in the (early 70's and was purchased by Loupot's Inc. about eight to ten years later. "Docu- ments showing actual dates of these transactions have been lost or misplaced." (the handout the city gave us) There is a subject marker for Mr. Loupot. Judson E. Loupot (1910 -1995) started his clothing and used textbook business in his dorm room. Mr. Loupot came to Texas A &M in 1928 and was class of '32. A surprise inspection of the dorms caused the school authorities to order the business off campus with the threat of expulsion. With the help of friends, 24 hours later the business reopened in a small structure in the spot now occupied by the Dixie Chicken. There he sold textbooks, clothes, hamburgers and chili. The store moved into its current location March 19, 1971. The store is still family owned and operated. We were givin the photograph as the potential historic photo for the current Loupots location, but it is the original location of Lipscombs Pharmacy which is now Campus Photo Center. Wig
