Present: Jake Canglose, North Bardell, Harry Stiteler, Sheriff Bobby Yeager, Police Chief Charles Phelps, MOBDES Col. Carroll Bell, Capt. Warren Heffington, Capt. Russell Tompkins, Ben Wormeli. Chairman: Jake Canglose 1. HURRICANE ALLEN - Review of FEMA findings during Hurricane Allen August 7 -10. The FEMA - Region VI Emergency Management Newsletter Oct -Nov 1980 re- ports that the Combined Application- Verification Process (CAVP)for more than 27,000 victims had serious problems when applied to a disaster of that magnitude. The Texas Civil Preparedness "The Digest" Summer 1980 had a good recap on the onslaught of Hurricane Allen. North Bardell reported that the City Manager of Robstown telephoned him (members of Texas Public Power System) before Hurricane Allen hit. This got prompt response of teams from several towns including College Station to immediately come to Robstown and quickly repair the damage of the storm. 2. Hazardous Materials - A FEMA report projects that Hazardous Materials accidents could be a greater threat than nuclear accidents. Our Hazardous Materials plan needs updating. Our key people will be called for a meeting to accomplish this. 3. Radiological Defense Plan - Our County plan is being reviewed and updated. Jake Canglose will distribute copies to the key people when completed. A Film on this subject may be in College Station. Check with North Bardell to locate it. 4. Major Ed Feldman will replace Bill Koehler as a College Station Deputy Director.
