Parsons University Safety Office - Harry Stiteler USDA -ASCS - S. J. Pringle Gentlemen: We are scheduling a Radiological Monitoring Course for all public service personnel July 22 and 23. This course will be conducted in the Brazos Center and will start at 9 A.M. each day and go until 3 P.M. with one hour for lunch. The purpose of this training is to insure that our community will have properly trained officers with available equipment to cope with either a Radioactive Materials accident or a Nuclear Attack. I feel that each Department should have a cadre trained to handle radioactive emergencies. The training course will be coordinated by Col. Carroll Bell of our office and he will contacting you in the near future for recruiting your participants. This training course will be a joint effort of the State Health Department and the Brazos County Civil Defense Office. Individuals who complete the course will be certified as qualified radiological monitors and will be issued certificates. Anyone interested in taking this course should contact the Brazos County Civil Defense Office from 8 A.M. until noon at 822 -7373, Ext. 219. The Brazos County Civil Defense, RACES and Communications Exercise was held at 5 P.M. June 19, 1980. It was a good Exercise - a summary is attached. 2. A Radiological Monitoring Course is scheduled for July 22 and 23, 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. in the Brazos Center. A copy of the announcement is attached. 3. The need to meet and update our Hazardous Materials Plan was discussed. 4. Your attendance is requested for approval of proposed Emer- gency Planning agenda items for Bryan, College Station, Texas A & M University and Brazos County. We will work on preparations for the Radiological Monitor School to be conducted in the Brazos Center July 22 and 23, 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. This will be a joint effort of the State Health Department and our office. The successful Communications Exercise with the RACES part- icipants will be evaluated.
