CIVIL DEFENSE COUNCIL MEETING
AUGUST 2, 1974

ATTENDANCE: Jake Canglose Lt. Col. Carroll Bell
Judge W.R. Vance Capt. Robert Bunting
Dr. Geo. L. Huebner Ben Wormeli
Jake read a letter inviting him (Jake) to Chief
C.O. Layne's retirement partyon August 29th at
6:30 pm in the Coffee Shop of the DPS in Austin.
Mr. Layne is retiring after 36 years.
Trained 2 classes of 18 telephone men and 16
men as Weather Spotters.
Jake and Dr. Moyer were on Town Talk- KBTX -TV.
KORA and WTAW are set up with beepers -- -every
3 minutes giving weather warning
KBTX and KAMU -TV will show a "W" in the right
hand corner of screen- -these beepers and W
will indicate local area is in a weather watch.
Thre weather warning tone coded receivers now
installed at WTAW, KTAM and KBTX. Base station
at RADAR station is in operation. Waiting for FCC
approval on frequency for tone alert receivers.
Discussed shelter survey findings conducted 7 -15
to 7 -25. There are details that will be checked out
and reported in detail when completed. These
surveys were conducted by Lt.Col. Bell and Ben
Wormeli.
