The Brazos County Civil Defense Office began qualification training for
20 Red Cross First...kid Instructors, Professional Nurses and Texas High-
way Department offieials on January 7, 1965, at 7:00 P.M. in the confer-
ence ream of the District Highway Off1e0, Bryan.
According to Mr. Jake Canglos•, Hrasos County Civil Defense Director,
Mr. John W. Hill, Texas A&M University Insurance and Safety Director,
will be coordinator for the county-wide medical self-help program.
Assigned to thin program is T.O. Walton, Jr., M.D., civil defense and
medical and health director; Mr. A.C. Allen, Brazos County Health
Sanitarian; Mr. Jimmie Davis, Texas A&M University Health PhySioist;
Mr. Jim O'Connell Resident Engineer, Texas highway Department, Bryan,
and Mrs. Jack P. Coven, preaident of the • Brazos Area Professional
Nurses' Club.
WhenAualified by the Medical Self.Help Committees, the instructors
will start the Medical Self-H•lp classes, free of charge, for key
governmental agencies amd the citizens of Erato. County.
According to Mr. John Hill, a nuclear attack could deny individuals
access to physicians, nurses and other medical facilities.

Dr. T.G. Walton, Civil Defesse Health Director, stressed the fact that
training reserved from Medieal 3411f-Help Courses is intended to be used in
a national emergency or disaster when no professional asdieal assistance can
be obtained.
All citizens of 3razoe County are urged, by this office, to attend courses
as they are scheduled.
