To :Brazos Ccunty Civil Defense Director Mr. Jake Canglose Dept. of Cceanography and Meterology College Station, Texas Dear Mr. Canglose: The 9412th Air Force Reserve Recovery 9luadron was activated at Lasterwood Airport in July 1961. The purpo se of this unit is to recover military aircraft which for some reason cannot re turn to its home base. In case of an attack on this country the reservist that man this squadron woul d need to travel to Easterwood Airport. Most of our men are within a radius of 75 miles of Bryan. Each reservist carries a Reserve I.D. Card. In case our men are stopped they will be able to show these cards. These cards are con— trolled b y number and it is impossible to send you copies. They are white cards 3i by 2- inches. They have red lettering and red letters. The front of the card has the rese rvi.st's picture, his rank and signature. The top line reads: ARMED FCRCE6 CF THE UNITED LiTATLE. The back of the card has right and left index finger prints, date of birth, weight, height, color hair, color eyes, blood type and date of issue.
