P.. Box DL College Station, Texas Dear Sir, Iam writing in regards to the Air Force bus which we have on a local goverment lease agreement and -equested to return to the Air Force. The bus wa. obtained on agreement for the purpose of utilizing it &s an emergency obile communications headquarters under the County Civil Defense Planning program ad lf it is at all possible we would like very much to be able to retain it, if necassary under some other type agreement. The reason I am rtiquesting s' possible avenue of rentention is because of the many manhours and equitynne that has been donate(1 by our local radio amateurs to outfit this vechicle as an emergency vecIilcl& • This work was done under the State PACES program to provide emergency back-up communications should existing communt7ations fail in an emergency. Also plans are in existmce to provide communications for the Recovery Sqdn_ during el recovery mi3Jons. 1 believe that to lose the vechicle would be a terrie waste of effort not to mention evieral hundred dollars of equipment that has been installed by our local citizens at no cost to us. I believe the value of this equipment to our community, your organization at to the overall civil defense planning program merits consiOAration for possible continuence of our lease agreement if at all possible. Yr'.UT consideration of his request will be sincerely appreciated and if there is anything that I can do to help in this request please feel free to call me. Respectfully Yours, 2 Kk 'Car: ' s eol Brazos County Civil Defense
