Our new location is 3006 East 29th Street, near the new St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. You are welcome to come by for coffee and a visit at any time. Teletype System The teletype system has been installed and is operating successfully at six locations in the region. Hearne, Bryan, College Station, Centerville, Caldwell and Navasota now have the most modern teletype equipment now being used in the state. Training on the equipment was handled very successfully by Mr. Joe Trowbridge from the Department of Public Safety. VHF Radio System Mr. Robert Caldwell, Mr. David (Casey) Jones, and Mr. J. W. Hall are presently finishing the regional plan to submit to the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee and the Criminal Justice Council in Austin. Any contacts for changes or corrections should be made directly to Mr. Caldwell's office. Specifications are shortly to be submitted to vendors along with the plan to let bids. A bid committee has been appointed from the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee and consists of the following: J. W. Hamilton, Joe Ellisor, Melvin Luedke, 0. L. Luther, Alfred Wilhelm, Garvin Wright, Royce Wilson, Judge J. C. Wells, E. C. Suggs, Billy Lincoln, Johnie Schulte, and Alfred Becker. Civil Disorder Equipment An application has been submitted to the Criminal Justice Council for $4,674.00 to purchase equipment for the following agencies: College Station, Hearne, Texas AO University, Navasota, and Grimes County. A bid committee has also been appointed for this equipment purchase. They are: Melvin Luedke, 0. L. Luther, E. C. Suggs, Garvin Wright, and Dick Johnson. We should be hearing from the application shortly. Probations Program Data and information are being gathered and a plan is being formulated with assistance from County and District Judges. In the coming weeks, a meeting will be called including all Judges and other interested parties and a final plan formed in prep- aration for an application to the Criminal Justice Council. Blinn College Program Blinn College and the BVDC have cooperated in establishing a Law Enforcement degree program that will begin in September of 1972. We are waiting for approval from the LEAA regional office in Dallas as to the availability of LEEP funding. We feel confident we will have funds available for law enforcement officers. Blinn is now searching for a qualified instructor to handle the program. Preferably, a masters degree and some experience in the law field will be required. Training Program Training has been slow in the region for the last few months. One officer from Bryan attended the Fingerprint Science Course in March. There will be a Police Photography School starting May 1. An Administration and Management Course is sch- eduled for May 8 if enough officers register. Another Basic 140 hour course will be offered in September, so register now. Reserve /Auxiliary School Lt. Howard Hill has been conducting this school for a couple of months with around thirty -five attending. It is scheduled to end on May 4 with a Barbecue. The men attending the school presented Lt. Hill with a fine fishing rod and reel for his outstanding efforts in presenting the school.
