TORNADO AND SEVERE WEATHER PROCEDURES
1. Communication Centers:
When a report is received from spotters or public...
a. Notify your department head
b. Notify Radar Warning Center 845 -6016
(if activated) 846 -7428
c. Notify Department of Public Safety 846 -3731

2. Law Enforcement Agencies:
a. Dispatch a unit to area of report
b. Keep Warning Center and DPS advised of
developments
3. Department of Public Safety:
Upon receipt of a confirmed tornado report...
a. Coordinate with Warning Center
b. Notify NWS - Waco, Texas 817/754 -3126
c. Transmit information on law enforcement network
4. Local Radio and TV Stations:
When a report is received from the public notify...
a. Radar Warning Center 845 -6016
(if activated) 846 -7428
b. Notify responsible area law enforcement agency

NOTICE TO ALL PERSONNEL
ON CIVIL DEFENSE AND SEVERE WEATHER OPERATIONS
THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY ALL INDIVIDUALS:
I. WEATHER STATEMENTS BASED ON RADAR OR LOCALLY DERIVED INFORMATION WILL BE
GIVEN OUT ONLY BY AUTHORIZED OFFICERS LISTED BELOW. ALL TELEPHONE CALLS
AND INQUIRIES WILL BE REFERRED TO THEM.
II. THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES WILL BE FOLLOWED BY ALL RADAR OPERATORS OR
INDIVIDUALS WHO RECEIVE WATCHES OR WARNINGS BY TELEPHONE OR TELETYPE
IN THE RADAR OR WEATHER STATION.
NOTIFY:
1. THE COUNTY WARNING OFFICER:

III. TORNADO OR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS ISSUED LOCALLY WILL BE
REPORTED TO NWS -WACO IMMED4TELY.
IV. WHEN WARNINGS OR WATCHES ARE ISSUED BY THE WARNING CENTER OFFICERS,
ALL TONE ALERT CHANNELS WILL BE ACTIVATED. THE END OF MESSAGE WILL BE
"AUTHORITY BRAZOS COUNTY CIVIL DEFENSE OFFICE."
V. WARNINGS,WATCHES AND BULLETINS FROM NWS WILL BE READ VERBATIM AND THE
ISSUING AUTHORITY STATED. (Descretion can be used on NWS watches as to
whether all agensies will be notified depending on existing weather condi-
tions threatening the area.)
