L TROOP TRAINS: Members of L Troop, 3rd t
Squadron, 163rd Armored Cavalry, located in
Bryan, had ample opportunity to fire their M -60
tanks during their two -week summer camp at Fort I ( Hood. In addition to maintaining, driving and fir-
ing their armored vehicles, they reviewed the use of
the M72A2 LAW rocket, an individual antitank
weapon.
The summer camp keeps the troopers in the
Texas Army National Guard unit, who work at
their civilian jobs the other 50 weeks of the year, in
a state of readiness. When they are out of uniform,
their occupations run the gamut from heavy equip-
ment operator to roughneck to animal technologist.
2nd Lt. Paul Schmidt is a student in Texas A &M
University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
