James B. Adams
James B. Adams, the former Number

As director of DPS, Adams also will
become director of the Division of Disaster
Emergency Services in accordance with ex-
ecutive order WPC -11.
Adams, 52, is a native of Corsicana and
Mexia. He received a BA Degree from Baylor
University and a Bachelor of Laws Degree
from the Baylor Law School.
Before joining the FBI as a special
agent in 1951. Adams served as Assistant
County Attorney in Limestone County and in
the Texas House of RPprPsPntativea.
He served in various positions and loca-
tions with the FBI, eventually rising to the of-
fice of Associate Director of the FBI in April,
1978. He served in the FBI's Number Two
position until May, 1979, when he resigned
- to accept an appointment from Governor Bill
Clements as Executive Director of the
-. - Criminal Justice Division.
