Upon the request of this office, the Texas Surplus Property Agency has received a limited number of surplus property gas masks for donation to Civil Defense. These masks are described as follows; Mask, gas, mfr. Mine Safety Appliance Co., Mark IV, canister type, one size 3'i x 6i cylindrical, painted gray, position of canister in back of neck. Protection afforded against war gases. Full type face piece with two hoses attached. Not useable with spectacles, natural rubber material. Two triangulary shaped eyepieces with rounded corners, lens material sheet plastic, universal size speaking diaphram. Equipped with cotton duck carrier size 7" x 9 ". To be worn on left side, accessories antifog kite. These gas masks are in new condition with a handling charge fee of $1.24 each. These masks are available to you for Civil Defense assignment according to our standard procedures. Those of you who have approved requisi- tions on file for Group 4240 -- Safety and Rescue Equipment, are eligible to receive these masks. Those of you who do not have this category listed on an approved requisition and are otherwise eligible to receive surplus property, and would like to have some of the masks, should submit a requisition for approval.
