HomeMy WebLinkAboutBrazos Area Citizens' Band Radio Club Constitution 1962 Box 131 Ade- College Station, Texas TO: LOCAL POLICE AND EMERGENCY ORGANIZATIONS FROM: BRAZOS -AREA CITIZENS' BAND RADIO CLUB SUBJECT: EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE UPON REZUEST A local group of citizens have organized the Brazos -Area Citizens' Band Radio Club. The purposes of this organization are outlined in the attached Constitution. There are approximately twenty -five (25) men in the group who have an average of two (2) radio transceivers per man. The effective range of each transceiver is ten to fifteen (10 -15) miles, but through relay, they can blanket quite an area with communications assistance. Among the group are at least two certified Red Cross instructors who are training others in the group in Emergency First Aid skills. CONSTITUTION AND BY -LAWS OF BRAZOS -AREA C.B. CLUB November 12, 1962 "CONSTITUTION" Article #1 NAME: This organization shall be known as the "Brazos -Area C. B. (Citizens' Band) Club." The object and purpose of this organization is to promote acquain- tance and fellowship among local radio operators operating in the Class D Radio Service; to standardize and encourage the use of operating courtesies; and to maintain a central file of active operators who will be available and willing to use their skill and equipment to expedite communications in case of any emergency. Article #2 LIABILITY OF MEMBERS: Each member of this organization shall assume full and complete liability for his and only his actions in the operation of either his own or club equipment. In case a member is operating Club equipment he shall be liable for proper and prudent use of equipment and for correct operational procedures. No member shall be liable for any action of any other member or group of members. Article #3 QUALIFICATION OF MEMBERS: All members of the Club shall be American citi- zens. All members must reside in Brazos County, Texas, or within the surround- ing area- -the exact extremes of the area to be determined by a simple majority vote of the members of the Club. Article #4 OFFICERS: The elected officers of the Club shall consist of a President, a Vice - President, a Secretary- Treasurer, a Reporter, and an Emergency Co- Ordina- tor. All officers of the Club shall be active members in good standing. Article COMMITTEES: As the needs may arise, various committees of members shall be organized. These committees shall be in two classes as follows: 1. Standing Committees -- Standing Committees are to serve specific pur- poses to expedite ordinary business of the Club. Members of Standing Committees shall be elected by a simple majority vote of members present. 2. Temporary Committees - -As special needs arise, Temporary Committees shall be formed. Members of these committees shall be appointed by the President. These committees shall remain intact only until their mission is accomplished. All committee nominees or appointees shall be active members in good stand- ing of the Club. Article #6 MEETINGS: The Club shall have two (2) regular meetings each month. Special meetings may be called by a simple majority of the officers of the Club should there be a valid need for such meeting. Article #7 AMENDMENTS: This Constitution may be amended by reading the proposed amendment at two (2) regular meetings; and at the conclusion of the second read- ing be adopted by a two - thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the voting membership listed on the Club roster. - Conclusion of Constitution- JOHN M. We have had emergencies such es hurricane Carle, Grent's little girl who got lost end also a false alarm during this nest deer see son when we were celled eut to secreh for e lost deer hunter.Needles to say I oelled on this group and recieved ell the help we could use. I hone the occasion will never arise when we will have to mobilize for e national emergency; however if we do your organization is one that we tt'ill be planning to use. Ps you know Mr. Youngblood hes been erpointed by this office to serve es Dour civil defense coordinator for your organization, along with Mr.Mosely, Mr. Wedel end Mr. Ginzel serving es his east's . I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest appreciation to Mlr. Youngblood, lr. Mosely end many others whose names I do not recall at this time for the merry hours of free time end gesoline they have given during the ebove mentioned emergencies and the many weather alert's we have ha8. It is the quality of the tyre of went you have in your organization thet make Brazos County the kind of niece w like to live in.
