REGULAR MEETING
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11TH, 1992 - 7:00 PM

I. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by Gary.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes were approved.
III. REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS:
Three applications were presented for review. #19 - 314 Lee Avenue :
Edwin H. & Page W. Higgins; #20 - 1102 Park Place S.: Joan & Gerald
Maffei; #21 - 300 Suffolk Avenue : Robin S. & Hays Glover, III. All three
applications were approved. David will contact them about accepting
their plaque at the next council meeting.
IV. FACTS FAIR '92 REPORT:
David explained that the Facts Fair, originally thought up by the
Conference Center Board, is intended to inform the public about City
services. Hopefully the Fair will also help bring in more applications for
City Boards and Committees. All these Boards and Committees, along
with City personnel, will have tables set up for dispersing information.
Gary, Lois, Joan, Cynthia, and Les offered to attend the Fair and assist
in answering any questions that citizens may have considering the
Historic Preservation Committee.

V. OTHER COMMITTEE CONCERNS:
David announced that Bonnie Woolverton sent a letter to the Mayor and
City Council announcing her resignation from the committee. She feels
that someone who knows the College Station area could better represent
the committee.
David passed around the sketched artwork for the Carter family
headstones for the committee's approval. One alteration was made on
the unknown's headstone. Gary suggested putting "Unknown Carter
Family Member" instead of "Unknown, Rest In Peace ". The committee
approved the artwork and work should begin on them soon. David
stated that Rebecca Landham remembered that Richard Carter had a
son, Frank, who was buried before Richard, at the age of 12. It is
assumed that the reason Richard Carter's remains were so deteriorated
compared to the others' remains is because he was dug up several times
and exposed to the environment. It was also discovered that Queen
Elizabeth's portrait was carved on Elizabeth Carter's headstone. The
ornate headstones will be $1,600, the unknown headstone $1,100, and
Precious Memories will donate Frank's headstone.
Colleen Batchelor, with Brazos Heritage Society, requested a list of the
approved Historic Homes Plaque owners and the two Building plaques.
David believes that she is going to include them in their brochure. They
would also like their $1,000 as soon as possible. David will take care of
getting the money to them.
Gary mentioned the dates and times of the Harvey Mitchell - Founders'
Celebration.
The Committee received another donation for the Carter headstones in
the amount of $50.
VI. ADJOURN:
The meeting was adjourned at 7:52pm.
