Memorial Board of Directors, at their annual meeting, Wednesday, December 10, elected officers and appointed committee chairs for 2009. The 2009 Board of Directors are: President: Major

A new member, Colonel Rick McPherson USMC (Ret.), was also elected to the board. The remaining board members are: Bill Adams, Russell Bradley, Tony Cisneros, Larry Hodges, George McCoy,

The current project of the Board of Directors is the Lynn Stuart Pathway which will serve as a major educational pathway for several agencies including the City of College Station, City
of Bryan, Brazos County, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, and the Memorial for all Veterans of the Brazos Valley, Inc. Contributions have also been received from numerous individuals,
organizations, and corporations throughout Brazos Valley. The concrete pathway will be approximately one mile in length when complete and will be fully handicap accessible. Interpretive
signage will be provided along the pathway and specific sites will be designated for future memorials for each of the principle wars in which the United States has fought. These separate
memorials will be added in future years as funding is available. They will commemorate the sacrifices of veterans and their families for those critical periods of American history. This
unique educational pathway will serve as an historical tool for local residents and numerous out of town visitors that use the park throughout the year. It will also become an important
educational tool for the youth of our community to develop an appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices of all veterans to preserve our freedom and way of life. The pathway is
named for the late Major General Louis Lynn Stuart USA (Ret.). Mr. Stuart was born in San Antonio and spent his early years with his parents on his grandparents’ ranch near Sonora, Texas.
In 1942, the Stuart family moved to Bryan where Lynn graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. After completing his freshman year at the A&M College of Texas, Lynn joined the U.
S. Army for one year. He then returned to his beloved A&M to continue his education. While in school he served with the Ross Volunteers as Executive Officer. He graduated in 1952 with
a degree in Civil Engineering and receiving his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, Lynn served two more years in the U. S. Army. Later, Mr. Stuart joined the U.S. Army Reserves, serving
35 years in the 420th Engineering Brigade, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General. During this time he earned the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Service Medal. In 1957, Mr.
Stuart became a business partner in Bryan Construction. He was active in many community projects and the Brazos Valley Memorial for all Veterans, Inc. was one of his favorites. Please
remember to honor the veterans in your family this holiday by having their names inscribed on the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial Donors Wall for $100. There are several other levels
