College Station past annexatiion have resulted in areas that have seen development ranging from city facilities to premiere neighborhoods to business parks. Effective March 29, 2008, the City of College Station annexed approximately 1,500 acres and will be providing building permits and inspection services to these areas. This service will be made available to the annexed areas on the same basis and at the same level of service as similar facilities throughout the City. Service is provided on a “cost recovery” basis, and permit fees partially offset the costs of services delivered. Construction activities underway prior to annexation may continue provided that all construction after annexation complies with City codes and ordinances. All permits required by City codes and ordinances must be obtained for construction underway at the time of annexation. Permit fees will be waived for building construction underway prior to annexatiion A map of the annexed areas along with additional annexation information can be found on our website at www.cstx.gov/Annexation. College Station Comprehensive Plan Update Planning & Development Services Page 11 Page 12 Volume 9 Issue 3 P&DS is pleased to announce that Lauren Amelia Hovde, Staff Planner, joined the College Station team in February. Previously, she was the Regional Serviice Planner for the Brazos Valley Council of Governmeent where she was involved in several projects, most notably the Futuregen proposal. Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science at Texas A&M University. P&DS is also pleased to announce that Venessa E. Garza, Greensway Program Manager, joined our team in February. Previously, she was a Planner for the City of Raleigh’s Parks and Recreation Departmeen in North Carolina. Venessa received a Bachello of Science in Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciennce at Texas A&M University and a Master of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University. Erika Bridges is the new Public Works Graduate Civil Engineer for development review. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and was previously emplooye by Jones & Carter and TRC Solutions, both Houston consulting firms. Her employment with the City started in February. She reviews the engineeriin component of private development projects. Brian Binford is the new Combination Building Inspectto for Planning and Development Services. Brian joins the City of College Station with a background in plumbing and water service experience. He will be responsible for on-site inspections to enforce City building, plumbing, electrical, energy, and mechanical codes and ordinances.
