Staff is currently working to roll existing environmentally-friendly programs and newly-created initiatives under the new campaign’s umbrella to help educate the community. College Station’s commitment to this effort was evident in April of this year, the City Council appointed a “Technical Task Force” to help oversee the green efforrts Task force members have expertise in areas such as emissions reduction, storm water managemeent xeriscaping, and green construction. In addition to community education, the City has also committed to a “municipal leadership program” highlighted by: • Pursuing a reduction in energy consumption in all City facilities • Following Leadership in Energy and Environmental Desiig (LEED) standards for new and remodeled City facilitiie • Purchasing hybrid fleet vehicles, where appropriate • Reducing water use at at City facilities through improved irrigation practices, efficient plumbing fixtures, and water reuse. The following are just a few of the features you can access: the project’s name, location, contact information for the owner, engineer, architect, etc., as well as staff’s review comments on all the plans submitted for the project.
