The Click2Gov software will enable contractors to complete the most common steps in the building permit process online, including scheduling inspections and viewing inspection results. Some of the benefits include: ♦ Improves access to permit information by allowing contractors to perform inquiries directly from the internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ♦ Improves customer relations by allowing customers to receive information without waiting for a clerk’s assistance. ♦ Reduces inquiry calls from contractors and the public, thus maximizing resources of building department personnel. ♦ Provides contractors with ability to view all the inspections required to complete the job in a single easy-to-read screen. ♦ Schedule and cancel inspections for permits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and to send comments to inspectors. We hope this service will help with inspections as well as help stream line the building permit process. Ryan came to us from the City of Victory’s Planning Department and will be working with the Mapping Division on several projects. Among them will be updattin and entering data to help maintain the City’s highfire Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating. With the addition of Ryan to our team we hope to continue to improve our level of service and information available to you our customers! Welcome to the Team! The City of College Station has hired Kimley-Horn and Associates (KHA) to conduct the East College Station Transportation Study. The scope of the study involves evaluating how the existing thoroughfare plan will perform as east College Station continues to develop. Following this evaluation, KHA will recommend necessary changes to the plan, as well as provide an implementation plan for when roadways in the area should be constructed. The City and KHA hosted a public workshop on Thursday, March 29th at Christ United Methodist Church. At the meeting, about 100 residents, property owners, and developers discussed concerns and opportunities with the transportation system in the study area. KHA will use this information to develop two thoroughfare plan alternatives. These alternatives, in addition to the current plan, will be evaluated using a transportation model. The recommendations will be presented to the public at a meeting on April 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church -Annex Building. Everyone lives in a Flood Zone. The only difference is whether you live in a low, moderate, or high risk area. In fact, homeowners are four times more likely to experience a flood than a fire. Even if you live in a low flood risk area you are at some risk. As many as 25% – 35% of the annual flood claims each year are paid for property located outside the high risk areas. You may think that you are covered for flood damages, but most homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage and just a few inches of water in a home can cause thousands of dollars of damage. Homeowners, renters, and business owners are eligible to purchase flood insurance as long as their community participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). NFIP is a Federal program enabling property owners to purchase insurance protection against losses from flooding. It takes 30 days after purchase for a policy to take effect, so it is important to buy insurance before the flood waters start to rise. For more information see the Federal Emergency Management Agency web site at www.floodsmart.gov. The City of College Station is in the first phase of updating its Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of this update is to create a more workable plan that can help guide decisions about the future growth and development of our community. Public participation is a vital part of creating a successful plan and we want to hear from you! Here are some of the ways that we have engaged the public to date: A Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) was created to provide valuable information and feedback to the consulting team and City staff. This Committee includes forty residents from throughout the community. The City hosted thirteen Focus Group meetings on October 26th and 27th to gather valuable input on issues such as transportation, economic development, historic preservation, land use, community character, growth management and growth capacity. Over 150 citizens attended the Focus Group meetings. The City also hosted a Citizens Congress, a community-wide planning meeting, to gather further input from residents on the future of College Station. Approximately 400 residents attended the Citizens Congress. College Station residents received a community survey in the mail with their utility bills during the month of January.
