Schultz, Chairman BRAZOS COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION 1200 Goode Street College Station, Texas 77840 Phone: 979.696.8483; 979.862.1555 P R E S S R E L E A S E For immediate release APRIL 27, 2008 College Station, Texas – The Brazos County Historical Commission is hosting a public dedication of the Isom Palmer Historic Marker on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be at the Bryan City Cemetery, 1111 North Texas Avenue. The public is invited. Isom Palmer (1811-1874), whose name has various spellings, was born to Martin and Sarah (Hardwick) Parmer. In 1825, the Palmer (Parmer) family moved to Texas, settling near Nacogdoches the next year, and participated in the 1826 Fredonian Rebellion. Palmer fought under Capt. John M. Bradley during the Siege of Bexar in late 1835. He then served as sergeant-at-arms at the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence at Washingtonon-the-Brazos. He later wed Laura E.
