HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-1225 - Ordinance - 06/26/1980T ORDINANCE NO. 1225 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SCHEDULE OF UTILITY RATES, GOVERNING PAYMENT OF BILLS PROVIDING FOR DISCONNECTIONS AND RECONNECTIONS: AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1145 AND PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Section I. Schedule of Rates: The monthly rates to be charged consumers for public utility services - namely, water and /or sewerage connections - -shall be in accordance with the schedules as follows: (A) Rates for Water 1. For domestic consumers, whether single family or multi - family, using water within the corporate limits of the city: Charge per thousand gallons . . . . . . . . $1.00 per M Service Charge per month. . . . . . . . . . $4.00 2. For commercial and /or industrial consumers using water within the City: First 55,000 gallons . . . . . . . . . . . .$1.00 per M Over 55,000 gallons . . . . . . . . . . . . .$0.92 per M Service Charge per month . . . . . . . . . .$4.00 (B) Rates for Sewerage Service 1. For consumers using sewerage service for household purposes, single or multi- family, within the corporate limits of the City: Monthly Charge per household unit. . . . . .$4.00 2. For consumers using sewerage service for commercial and /or industrial business establishments within the corporate limits of the City: First7,000 gallons or fraction thereof of water . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $4.00 Each additional 7,000 gallons or fraction thereof of water used . . . . . . . . . . .$0.98 Where it can be shown that any considerable part of the water used by commercial and /or industrial consumers does not reach the sewers, the City Council may make such adjustments in their rates as shall be deemed just and equitable. 03256 ORDINANCE NO. 1225 Section 2. Payment of Bills: Payments must be received at the City Utility Office on or before the due date to avoid late charges. Payments received after the due date will be assessed a penalty equaling 10% of the unpaid current month charge with a minimum charge of $3.00. Section 3. Disconnections and Reconnections: (A) All utility connections may be severed for any consumer of public utilities who fails to pay all or any part of his total bill by the due date. (B) When connections for public utilities services have been severed, or are considered to be severed, the same shall be restored only when all amounts due the City have been paid in full. The fee for such meter reconnections shall be set in policy by the City Administration. (C) All connections, reconnections and disconnections shall be made only by an authorized representative of the City. Section 4. In view of the fact that the City must have access to the meters for reading and service, no authorized City representative shall be denied access to the meter. Section 5. This rate shall be effective on all invoices submitted by the City of College Station to users on or about July 1, 1980. Section 6. Any ordinance or portion thereof in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed, and the provisions of this ordinance, in case of conflict shall govern. If any portion of this ordinance shall be declared invalid, such declaration shall not affect the other portions thereof. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ORDERED PUBLISHED this the 26th day of June, 1980.
