AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 899.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
Ordinance No. 899 is hereby amended as follows:
Change Section 8-M.1 to read as follows:
"Sidewalks of four (4) feet minimum width shall be required on both sides
of all streets having a right of way width greater than sixty (60) feet
and on one side of streets of sixty (60) feet right of way. Sidewalks may
be required on at least one side of streets of lesser width. Sidewalks
shall be placed within the right of way as determined by the City Engineer
and when so specified.
Add new Section 8-M.2 to read as follows:
Exceptions to or partial waiver of the requirements of 8-M.1 may be
granted by the City Council upon recommendation of the Planning and
Zoning Commission and when it has been determined:
1) that satisfactory alternative pedestrian ways or pedestrian/bikeways
have been or will be provided outside the normal right of way, or
2) that unique circumstances or unusual topographic, vegetative or other
natural conditions prevail to the extent that strict adherence to said
requirements would be unreasonable and not consistent with the purposes
and goals of this ordinance or the Comprehensive Development Plan.
