HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-0779 - Ordinance - 08/23/1971ORDINANCE NO. 779 AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: SECTION I. On the 27th day of September, 1971, at 7:00 p.m. o'clock in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of College Station, Texas, the City Council will hold a public hearing giving all interested persons the right to appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of College Station, Texas of the following described property, to -wit: Beginning at a point in the southwest right of way line of State Highway 6, said point de- scribed as being approximately 5, 280 feet south of the most easterly corner of a tract of land conveyed to Area Progress Corporation by Roy W. Kelley as shown in Volume 286, Page 292 of the Deed Records of Brazos County, Texas, Thence in a southeasterly direction along the west right of way line of State Highway 6 a distance of approximately 2,194 feet to a point for a corner, said point further described as being the common corner of the west right of way line of State Highway 6 and the north right of way line of Barron Road, Thence in a southwesterly direction along the north right of way line of Barron Road, a distance of approximately 775 feet to a point for a corner, f, Thence in a northwesterly direction a distance of approximately 1, 700 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a northeasterly direction a distance of approximately 675 feet to a point for a corner, said point being 100 feet from the west right of way line of State Highway 6, Thence in a northwesterly direction a distance of approximately 500 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a northeasterly direction a distance of approximately 100 feet to the place of beginning and containing 31.3 acres more or less. SECTION II. The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be published once in a newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the above described territory not more than twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes). SECTION III. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the rule requiring ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, and the ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption.
