HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-0775 - Ordinance - 07/26/1971ORDINANCE NO. 775 AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Section 1. On the 23rd day of August, 1971, at 7:00 p. m. o'clock, in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of (bllege Station, Texas, the City Council will hold a public hearing giving all interested persons the right to appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of College Station, Texas of the following described property, to -wit: Beginning at a point in the south property line of a 6. 07 acre tract out of the Crawford Burnett League, said tract shown on a preliminary plat as Ponderosa Place, said point further described as being S 46000' W a distance of 100 feet from the most easterly corner of the saic 6.07 acre tract and said corner also being in the west right of way line of State Highway 6, Thence in a southeasterly direction parallel to and 100 feet from the west right of way line of State Highway 6, a distance of 5, 280 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a southwesterly direction and perpendicular to the aforementioned line a distance of 200 feet to a point for a corner, Thence in a northwesterly direction parallel to and 300 feet from the west right of way line of State Highway 6, a distance of approximately 5, 280 feet to a point for a corner, said point also being located in the south property line of the 6. 07 acre tract known as Ponderosa Place, Thence in a northeasterly direction along the aforementioned south property line of the Ponderosa Place tract, a distance of 200 feet to the place of beginning and containing 24. 2 acres more or less. Section 2. The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be published once in a newspaper having general circulation in the city and in the above described territory not more than twenty -days nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), Section 3. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessty that the rule requiring ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended, and this rule i., hereby suspended, and the ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption.
