Room #1 College Station, Texas 77840 Attendance:, Hillary Jessup, Marguerite Anthony, Lou Hodges, Colleen Risinger, Anne Triche-Steen, Meredith Waller, Jane Hughey Approved Absence: Ernie Wright Staff Attendance: Peggy Calliham and Anne Boykin Agenda Item #1: Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 4:12 p.m. Agenda Item #2-3: Hear Visitors No visitors present. Agenda Item #4: Absence Request Neal Nutall Agenda Item #5: Approval of the minutes Motion was made, seconded to approve the minutes. (MW/CR) Agenda Item #6: Committee Reports Parks Project Committee (Lou and Jane) Lou reported that he will be setting up a meeting to discuss plans for the Parks Project. He will also invite David Woodcock to participate in the committee. Exploring History Lunch Lectures (Ernie, Jane and Hillary) Jane will substitute for Ernie and introduce the speaker at the January lecture. Anne B. will compose a letter to request restaurants or organizations to sponsor the lectures. Historic Markers (Meredith and Hillary) Historic Home Marker #80 will be presented at the next Council meeting, Jan. 10, to the Mary Hanna family of 1007 Hereford Street. Hillary and Meredith will present. Oral History Project (Lou and Anne Steen) Lou has scanned and PDF’s 13 chapters of the Oral History notebooks. Approximately 5 have been partially edited. Project HOLD (Lou, Colleen and Anne Steen) See attached report. Education Committee (Jane, Ernie, Marguerite, and Lou) Marguerite suggested “Settlers in the Brazos Valley” as a possible topic for a summer history program with children. She suggested that whatever we do, it should support the summer school program with educational material. Kids Klub might be a good venue for the program. Mark Beal is making a new DVD of the Golden Memories tape with a new beginning and ending. These will be delivered to the schools for their libraries. Agenda Item # 7: City’s 70th Birthday Anne B. plans an exhibit to feature the mayor’s of College Station in honor of the 70th birthday of the City. A PH Moment in History newsletter will go out next week starting the series on College Station history. One suggestion was asking Café Eccel to sponsor a birthday cake for the actual day, Oct. 19, which is a Sunday.
