HomeMy WebLinkAboutEaton, NadineNadine is a native Texan; she was born just up the road in Hearne and first moved to College Station in 1955. She attended Prairie View A&M University. She is the proud mother of six children-Harold D. Eaton, Annette Renee Jones, Patrick D. Eaton, James F. Eaton, Detrick B. Eaton, Daniel C. Eaton, and grandmother of six grandchildren. Having spent her career in education, Nadine is especially pleased that one of her grandchildren is currently a sophomore at LSU, and that her oldest grandson has been accepted to University of Texas. In 1985, Nadine moved to Pasadena, California where she taught at the Polytechnic School and was recognized as Teacher of the Year. Since returning to Bryan in 1992, Nadine has been a teaching assistant with Bryan ISD at Carver Early Childhood Center, and was honored as Best Paraprofessional for the 2004-2005 school year. Her classroom, team taught with Ms. Karen Matthews, has been recognized by the Texas Education Agency for their work in an inclusion classroom, in- corporating students with disabilities with their non-disabled peers. Nadine is a member of the board of the Brazos Valley African American Museum, where she has been a champion fundraiser, get- ting more in-kind donations than any other board member and over $14,000 in classroom and foyer furniture. In January, 2007 she received the Pruitt Award for her service and fundraising efforts for the Brazos Valley African American Museum. Nadine is an active member of the College Hill Missionary Church, where she is currently President of the Pastoral Ministry and works with youth programs. She has also served as a teacher in the church's mission program and as a motivational speaker for several churches in Bryan, College Station and Houston. In 2006, Nadine was honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Bluebonnet Council of the Girl Scouts. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Nadine says she has always tried to be a good role model for her children as well as for many others whose lives she has influenced. Nadine Eaton
