HomeMy WebLinkAboutDeVaul, Mary V.Since arriving in the Brazos Valley in 1988, Mary Vandivort DeVaul has been a valued member of the boards of many community organi- zations, including the board of the Texas A&M Universiry College of Medicine Auxiliary, the Texas A&M Universiry Women's Club, OPAS, the Woman's Club, and Chapter B.G. P.E.O. Sisterhood, serving as President in 2001-2002. Over the past several years she has written scripts for KAMU-FM's Healthwise. In 2004, she received a media award from the Texas Public Health Association for excellence in communicating public health information. Since 1992, Mary has been an active volunteer and member of the Board of Directors of Health For All, Inc., a nonprofit medical clinic with over 4,000 patient visits a year. Health For All is located in Bryan, but sees patients from all the seven counties of the Brazos Valley. The mission of the clinic is to provide a medical home for those who have no health insurance, and who have nowhere to go for health care. She served as secretary and then vice president from 1992 to 1994 and was president of the board from 1994 to 1995. Since then, she has been an active member of the Past Presidents' Advisory Board and, as the HFA volunteer coordinator, was responsible for the recruitment and training of volunteers for several years. Currently, she is a proud member of the HFA development team. Prior to working with Health For All, she was in public relations for the TAMU Commitment to Education Task Force. In the 1980's, she served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vandivort Prop- erties, Inc. for three years. Mary has a bachelor of arts and a master of arts in history from the Universiry of Rochester in New York. Before devoting herself to raising a family, she worked as a legislative assistant to Congressman Jonathan Bingham on Capitol Hill and then was a research analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency at Langley, Virginia. Married to Dr. Richard A. DeVaul, a professor and former Dean of the Texas A&M Universiry College of Medicine, since 1969, their family includes two daughters and a son, two sons-in-law and two grandchildren, all of whom they are very proud.
